Smart sensor module for integrated water management

Monitoring of water quality and water levels

Monitoring of water quality and water levels in the field is often still done manually. Inspectors must carry out the measurements on site which costs time and only gives a limited view of what is continuously happening. By combining multiple sensors into one compact module, measurements like temperature, pressure, and conductivity (EC) can be automatically conducted. The gathered data then becomes available for further processing within the existing system. This creates a solution that makes it possible to continuously monitor water, without the need for repeated on-site visits.

Efficient water management from a distance

Monitoring the quality of the surrounding environment is a crucial, yet time-consuming task in which employees need to physically enter the field to conduct inspections. The challenge was to develop a system that autonomously gathers this data, regardless of location. Building on our experience with high-quality industrial design and robust mechanics, NiftyBits has developed a universal insertion module, specifically designed for deployment in natural environments: from riverbanks to deep groundwater wells.

High-quality sensor technology

The module is equipped with high-quality sensors that continuously monitor the vital parameters of the water. Differing from our other projects where RFID technologies or micro-optics are used, this system makes use of high-quality electronics for the measurement of water pressure, temperature, and EC values (salinity). This data is essential for water-quality monitoring and early detection of salinization or pollution in the environment.

From field measurements to an information-driven dashboard

The added value of this innovation lies in the seamless integration of digital information provision. Just like with our AI-driven analysis, the gathered data is sent in real time, lowering administrative overhead and substituting physical inspections where possible. The parameters are displayed on a central dashboard where trends are instantly recognizable and the organization can proactively act on changing water conditions. This makes water management not only more accurate, but also more cost-effective and sustainable.
